Street Art: Granada, Spain

When J was in university, he spent a semester in Spain studying at la universidad de Granada. So naturally, I had to go visit him because I had always wanted to go to Spain.

It was such an amazing 3 weeks. I fell so in love with Spain- but more specifically the city of Granada. One thing that really captivated my heart was all the beautiful street art. I've been a fan of street art for quite some time, but Granada took my love to a whole other level. Street art was everywhere I turned, every street I walked up, around every corner I turned. And they weren't just spray-painted letters splattered against walls- most of the pieces were pictures people, things, characters, political messages, stories...  with so much work and detail put into them.

While J would be in class, I would walk around the city just in awe of how beautiful some of these pieces were.

This is just a very small sampling of the photos I took of the beautiful street art. We hope to return to Granada again some day soon. We miss it!

My friend Lisa also has a post on street art in Granada that you can check out here. Granada is actually where we met-- she was also in J's study abroad program!

How about you- do you like street art? Have you ever been to Spain and/or Granada?

Question of the Day: One-Way Ticket

If you could leave tomorrow with a one-way ticket, where would you go?

I asked this question to my friends & fam on Facebook last week. I got some good answers -- like California, Italy, Poland, England & Dublin.

But this is what I would do: I would get a one-way ticket to Portugal (probably Lisbon). Then just train and/or ride a motorcycle my way east- hitting Spain, France, Germany, etc. etc. hit Turkey and Greece. Then take a ferry south to Africa and make my way down to South Africa. I mean- how amazing would that be?!

Yeah. I think that sounds like an awesome plan.

How about YOU? Where would you go?

Photo Friday: Manlawi Sandbar, Caramoan, Philippines

This is the Manlawi Sandbar in Caramoan located in the Philippines. Caramoan is where J and I spent our 1-year wedding anniversary. It was paradise! I even wrote a post about Caramoan- a travel guide of sorts- that you can find here.

If anyone ever visits the Philippines, Caramoan should be one of the top places to visit while you're there! I highly recommend it. I know I can't wait to go back!

Happy Friday, y'all! xoxo

Other Photo Friday places:
Batu Caves, Malaysia
Boracay, Philippines
Ngerbelas Island, Palau
Jaco, Costa Rica
Lake Havasu, AZ, USA
Thailand
Cuenca, Ecuador

The Boy Behind the Blog #9

I can't believe this is the 9th round of TBBTB for me-- and what's more incredible is that J still does this for me every month. He's the best. =)

Here are his answers for February's round of The Boy Behind the Blog:

1. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?

2. Sand or snow?
Sand by itself is pretty useless to me, but if it comes with waves and warm weather, I'll take it.

3. What Winter Olympic sport would you rock at?
I'm ok at snowboarding, but curling looks more fun.

4. You're cooking a romantic dinner- what is your go-to dish?
Fancy Feast gourmet chicken flavor.

5. Fill in the blank: This year, I gave (your wife/girlfriend/fiance's name) a ____________________ for Valentine's Day?
This year I gave Leia a hard time for Valentine's Day.

(Um, he sure did. Long story, but he made it up to me on Saturday with a 5-course home cooked meal that was amazing! I forgave him after that.)

Tuesday Tunes: Letter "N"

Today I'm linking up with my friend Lisa over at Meandering, Adventures & Crafty Inspirations for Tuesday Tunes! Click here to come link up, too!

Today's Tuesday Tunes prompt is: A song on your playlist that starts with the letter "N"

Since it was Valentine's Day a few days ago, I decided to go with something a little nice and romantic. And I absolutely LOVE this song. Here is Lauryn Hill's "Nothing Even Matters" -- dedicated to my boo thang. ;)

Question of the Day: Childhood Song?

Which song always takes you back to your childhood when you hear it?

A ton of songs always take me back to my childhood when I hear them. My parents love to listen to music and dance (oh yes- they can get down!). So we were brought up listening to all kinds of music- but mainly pop. My brother and I grew up listening to artists like Janet Jackson, Tears for Fears, Michael Jackson, Salt-n-Peppa, Prince... the list goes on and on.

This song, though, brings back a lot of memories. When we were younger, my brother and I would make silly videos. There is a video of my brother and I dancing to this song and it's great. Little did we know at the time what the song was about, but we would sing/rap to it all the time. And I remember one day, my dad asked us "Do you guys know what this song is about??!" and we said "Nope!" and continued singing it. We knew (actually, still know!) all the words. And it's still "the jam!"

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Tag Team - "Whoomp! There it is!":

How about you?? What song takes you back to your childhood when you hear it?

Happy Anniversary to meeeeee!

Today marks this here 'ol blog's 2nd anniversary! I can't believe it has been two years that I decided to start this blog! (You can read my very first post that I did here: Welcome!). I've actually been a blogger (of sorts) for about 10 years now, but Latitude Adjustment has been by far my most favorite.

I first started this blog right before J and I left to go and teach in Korea. I used this blog as a way to document our life and adventures for our family and friends. And since then, it's blossomed into something more than that. This blog has been a great creative outlet for me and it's developed into one of my favorite hobbies.

I don't know what the future holds for Latitude Adjustment. All I know is that I'm just going to keep on doing what I'm doing and enjoy the ride.

Thank you to those who read this blog, even if it's just to look at my pictures, lol. I know I don't have a lot of "followers," but I don't do this for that. I do this because I genuinely like doing it. Thanks for sticking with me.

Cheers to many more blogiversaries to come! xoxo

The Sunday Currently, volume 2

C U R R E N T L Y ...

R E A D I N G  a bunch of books from the "... for Dummies" series and the "The Complete Idiot's Guide to..." series that I checked out from the library (like Blogging for Dummies, Flat Belly Cooking for Dummies, and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Natural Remedies). I don't think of myself as a dummy or an idiot, but I do like these series and the simple, easy-to-understand format they present information.

W R I T I N G  my Valentine cards for my kids (since this will be the only time for me to get them done!).

L I S T E N I N G  to my Pandora on shuffle (which includes my Mos Def, J. Cole, Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae and Lauryn Hill stations).

T H I N K I N G about how much I dislike my husband working a retail job. We hardly ever get a full day off together. Sad face.

S M E L L I N G the remnants of the random scramble J whipped up for breakfast where he just basically raided the fridge and put in a bunch of leftovers- which included chicken nuggets, eggs, spinach, and garlic knots. But I'm not even gonna lie- it was pretty good.

W I S H I N G there were more hours in a day to get things done!

H O P I N G this week's weather will be better! *knock on wood*

W E A R I N G  leggings a lot lately and slowly ditching jeans. I mean, leggings are just way more comfortable!

L O V I N G my "Body Shaping" fitness class I joined last week!

W A N T I N G  an hour (or several hours) long foot massage and scalp massage. I told J that if when he makes it and we have a lot of extra money, I'm just going to hire someone to come over whenever I want and give me foot rubs and scalp massages.

N E E D I N G (see above)

F E E L I N G like I have a million things to do and not enough time. But I just need to chill out. Things will work out the way they're supposed to. (Be good to me, universe.)

Monthly Photo Journal: January 2014

My January in photos:

The snowfall was beautiful one day, so we let the kids run out really quickly. It was exciting for them. // Speaking of my kids, I do love when they draw me cute pictures. Like this one.

I've been journaling more and enjoying it! // I bought a little bit of scrapbook supplies to start one of every year of mine & J's marriage. I've already finished Year 1. Hopefully this month I can finish Year 2!

Some of the good eats from January: BBQ from Edley's // Caribbean food from Calypso // and amazing potato tacos by J!

There's a few of these painted around Nashville. This one's by Mitchell's Deli. // I've been reading this book, getting ideas for our future hostel!

J played a few open mics in January. He's been working hard on his music stuff! // Speaking of open mics, we went to one last night and it was terrible-- we sat through 4 rounds and not one person was good. We were bored, so we played "team draw" on a napkin and this was the result.

Check out previous Monthly Photo Journals.

How was your January?

Wedding Wednesday: The Honeymoon

When I was a little girl, I had always envisioned a grand wedding and where after the reception, my husband would carry me off my feet to our car that had been decorated with ridiculousness by our friends and we'd drive off to catch a plane to somewhere tropical for our honeymoon.

But, as I got older and met J, the more I realized how unconventional we were. And nothing like how I had envisioned about my wedding when I was a little girl actually happened. And truth be told, I am 110% ok with that. In fact, how everything really went down was probably better than I could have ever dreamed.

So, needless to say, our wedding and honeymoon weren't very conventional. After our wedding in Costa Rica, we stayed in the country for about another week or two with a group of our friends who wanted to stay, too. We explored other parts of CR that we hadn't before and it was all in all a great time.

Before leaving California to Costa Rica for the wedding, I had a job interview set up in Cuenca, Ecuador a few weeks after the wedding date. So we just planned that after the wedding, we'd just keep on moving south to Ecuador. It wasn't certain that I would even get the job, but we were (or are) crazy and went with good faith anyways. (And luck was on our side because both J and I got jobs at the same school).

Anyways, rewind to before Cuenca. J and I hadn't really planned a real honeymoon. We left Costa Rica and headed to Ecuador. We stayed in Quito for a few nights. Then we headed to Baños, stopping there for a few days, before heading to Cuenca.

We really fell in love with Baños and we had such a fun time there (a full post with details and pictures on the city can be found here: Favorite Places: Baños, Ecuador). We decided (recently, actually-- like last week) that we considered our time in Baños our "honeymoon" because it was the first time after the wedding that we were by ourselves and just enjoying our post-marital status.

Since Ecuador, we have been on many other lovely escapes and J has said that they are all part of our honeymoon and that our honeymoon hasn't ended. And I would have to agree with him. ;)

You can find my previous Wedding Wednesday posts #1-12 here.

Here are the prompts if you'd like to join Wedding Wednesday:

My Dream Travel Destinations: North America

My last dream travel destinations list was in Europe. This round I'm bringing it closer to home- North America. For this post's purpose, I'm just including U.S.A, Canada and Mexico. I know these are not the only countries in this continent, but places like Central America and the Caribbean will definitely have their own list.

So here is my (partial) list of places I want to go to in North America:

 Anywhere where I can see the Northern Lights (on my bucket list!) - i.e. Canada (Calgary, Ontario, Yukon Territory and/or Manitoba) and/or Alaska (Anchorage, Fairbanks, and/or Denali):
Alaska {via}

Canada {via}

Glacier National Park:
{via}

Kodiak Island:
{via}

Chichen Itza, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico:
{via}

Yellowstone National Park:
{via}

Quebec City, Canada:

Arches National Park:
{via}
 Portland, Oregon:
{via}

 Pyramid of the Sun, Teotihuacan, Mexico:
{via}

Austin, Texas:
{via}

 Honorable mentions:
Philadelphia (for the cheese steaks)
Boston (for the clam chowder)
Niagara Falls
Toronto, Canada

I could have probably gone on and on with this one- there is just so much I have still yet to see here! What's on your North America list? Have you been to any of these places? What are some must-see/do/eat things?
